I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I’ve truly enjoyed surfing around your blog posts.After all I’ll be subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write again soon!This is a superb article and overview.Several years ago, while interviewing peasant farmers displaced by aerial spraying in Sucumbíos, on the Colombia-Ecuador border, I heard sad stories from farmers affected by the spraying.The physical complaints included skin rashes, stomach problems, and other ailments–all the result of pesticide poisoning.I wrote up this interview material and can make it available to appropriate persons for use in fighting the spray program.Perhaps the most salient effect of spraying: If the first manifestation of the Colombian State in these far-flung coca-growing areas takes the form of armed helicopters (to protect the spray planes), any effort to convince poor farmers to trust the State are doomed.I would add one thing to the article.Traffickers have hired agronomist to develop coca plants that produce higher yields of product on the same planted area.This is one criminal–and scientific–response to aerial spraying.I certainly thank you for writing this article well, hopefully it will become a reference in journals or other scientific writings and can help many people. thanks.
